not impressed – Having heard much ado about the Ashmont Grill. my partner and I went last night for dinner. While were seated immediately, the tablescape was barren and uninviting. Tablecloths would help soften the hard wood and brick environment, as well as some upholstered chairs. The ambiance is "hard" in a word. The service was awful, the food mediocre, and the handcut fries were dried-out and overseasoned. Way overpriced and overated. A nice bar area though, but not comfortable for dining. Go to "dbar" down dot. ave!

Great new place! – I went to the Ashmont Grill with 3 friends a couple weeks ago. The restaurant was very busy inside. However, the hostess was able to seat us on the outside patio right away. Great atmosphere out there with the heat lamps and firepit! For appetizers, we had the "train wreck fries", which were excellent. All 4 of us had different entrees, and everyone enjoyed. The pizzas were fantastic. Also, the pumpkin cheesecake was great. I definitely recommend this place, and from the crowds in there on that Friday nigh... read more

It looked pretty – We've tried it twice and each time we really didn't have that good of a dining experience both times we waited over 45 minutes to be seated and the food took forever. The Mussles were good but the Wreck Fries were greasy. As for the entrees Ribs were not meaty and the steak though tasty was not cooked correctly and had to send it back. On our second visit we has the most annoying little waitress it seemed like she couldn't be bothered and hardly checked back with us at all throughout the night. The sides o... read more

The Ashmont Grill - great addition to Dorchester! – My husband and I have been to the Ashmont Grill twice since it opened at the beginning of September and we have been impressed both times...the waitstaff is obviously trying to develop rhythm, but the food has been great, the drinks and dessert tasty and it is so affordable. I love the atmosphere also. Casual yet trendy, with a very diverse crowd. This is going to be a regular dining spot for us!
