I give the gym 5 stars. Good equipment (lots of recent new additions too) - nice staff. I give the pool 1 star. The pool is dreadful. I have been coming here for ten years for swimming lessons. It is incredibly hot inside as a spectator (which I have no option not to be because my kids are having lessons). They don’t seem to operate any air conditioning or even fans half the time. The pools have mould on the lane dividers, the pool walls have grime. The change rooms are disgusting. The lockers- you’re lucky to find one that hasn’t got dirty tissues or debris in it. I cancelled my membership- I can’t bring myself to go somewhere so poorly cleaned. It’s such a shame as the staff are lovely.
Today we made a friend with Cérge. Going swimming isn't something we usually do as many venues can’t cater to our needs of a quiet space. But today we arrived at the venue Ascot Vale Leisure Centre feeling good, my son was slightly nervous, but staff were welcoming so that eased his nervousness. Due to how close this is to my house, I'm keen to join the gym and classes here once the cleanliness and hygiene issues have been addressed. I went there for a swim and sauna, and also checked out other parts of the center. Floors were grimy, bathrom was dirty and grimy, pool water appeared cloudy, overall gave me an uncomfortable, icky feeling.
I had a disappointing experience with Rebecca during my inquiry about the membership. She seemed visibly annoyed by my questions and rushed me into booking classes without providing essential information, such as the schedule (which I had to request myself). Her attitude felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. I recommend improving customer service training to ensure a more positive experience for future clients.
