Asahi Sushi

4.3

About this business

A Hello-Kitty sake figurine greets patrons in the dining room, which is dominated by a long sushi bar. The atmosphere is cozy, the food delicious. Salmon Terriyaki, several Katsu dishes and a wide selection of creative sushi rolls are available. Try the Asashi Special, filled with deep-fried shrimp, crab and avacado, or the Fells Point roll. It's filled with eel and avocado wrapped in fresh tuna. If you prefer your food cooked, try the tonkatsu, a breaded pork chop served with rice and covered in a savory sauce.

If you've ever had half decent sushi you'll be very disappointed! – Just a moment ago I wrote a long and detailed review of why this restaurant was not worth the time, money, or travel. However, this site decided to refresh the page and wipe out my review. So I'll leave you with this: The service was unbelievably slow. It took 20 minutes for some salads (Apps.) and then after eating those slowly we still waited over 30 more minutes before the sushi arrived. It turned out to be roughly 90% rice and 10% semi-warm, less than fr... read more

Amazing Sushi with a Great Atmosphere – My first experience at Asahi was a little less than a year ago on a first date (great first date idea by the way). Since then, I have eaten there at least once a week. It is a cute, inexpensive, homey feeling place right on the main street of Fells Point. It is a B.Y.O.B. restaurant which helps keep the bill cheap without cutting out the sake and beer. I always sit at the bar where you can really get to know the sushi chef. The variety of rolls are packed with the perfect amount of ing... read more

Best Sushi in Baltimore. – I have been visiting this small sushi place for about 2 years now and it can't be beat. The chef adds generous portions of fish to every roll, and there is a roll for just about everyone, probably about 40 in all. Don't see something you like? Cozy up to the bar and talk to the owner/chef and he can probably make you something that's not on the menu. The fish is fresh and tasty. The salmon mushroom roll has an incredible flavor that makes it a staple on my plate everytime I go. If you are looking f... read more

No reason to look any further...... – If you are looking for the best sushi, there is no reason to look any further. Everything you could want from a perfect sushi experience is at Asahi Sushi. Consistency, fresh fresh fish, wide variety, reasonable prices, friendly people, staff and patrons alike. I love the atmosphere, it is like your favorite neighborhood bar but without the alcohol, smoke or loud music (although you can BYOB). You get the most out of your dining experience by sitting at the sushi bar and watching JC work... read more

I tried them all this is the best – Everything on the menu is excellent, no were else can you get fresh Uni. Plenty of stuff on the menu for those who don't like it RAW (like my wife). I visit here often bringing the whole family. I have followed JC around for 10+ years on his various sushi jobs, now he's the boss. My 4 year old Little Ray loves the stuff. JC (the cook and owner), his mom, wife and others in JC's family are great. I always tell JC my son will kick his sons azz for a good laugh. Tell him FATRAY sent you for f... read more

Best Sushi in Baltimore – Asahi has the best sushi in Baltimore. It is always fresh and well prepared. The Korean dishes are excellent if traveling with non-sushi eaters. I suggest the spicy cold-seaweed soup. Still an unknown destination! Stop by the wine shop across the street because it is BYOB.

Great Little Spot – I love this place! The food is great and reasonably priced. The service is fantastic and the staff is super-friendly. Parking can be tough on weekend nights but is fine most of the time. You can often get a spot right out front. I would call if bringing a VERY large group.

Stop by this unpretentious spot for a generous helping of raw fish and other Asian fare. – In Short There's nothing particularly striking about this modest sushi eatery, but for visitors to touristy Fells Point, the location can't be beat. Hanging lanterns and a tall central sushi bar add authentic flair to deli-style whitewashed walls and plain stone floors. The tuna-topped Fells Point roll and the Maryland crab roll add local flavor to the standard sushi list, while Korean dishes--including the Pajun pancake with shrimp, s... read more
