Artista Salon and Day Spa can certainly compete for the prize of 'best decorated' salon in Manhattan. It occupies a huge, airy loft space that features a cross between Gothic and Middle Eastern styles. The hardwood floors, wrought iron chandeliers and mosaics provide a truly transporting effect. The services are excellent as well. From hairstyling and facials to massages, manicures and pedicures, everything here feels like a lush indulgence.

UNEXPECTED IN NYC – THIS PLACE WAS TERRIFIC. THE STAFF IS FABULOUS YET COZY - NO PRETENSE HERE. CAPUCCINO, CHANDELIERS, THIS IS THE "BEHIND THE VELVET ROPE" OF SALONS! I'VE HAD AN UP-DO BY RAY THAT STAYED ALL NIGHT INTO THE MORNING, HIGHLIGHTS BY VITA - STUNNING! I LOVE THE MANICURES HERE. I'LL WAIT WEEKS TO SIT IN TATIANA'S CHAIR. MY BEST FRIEND ALSO WENT HERE FOR HER BRIDAL PKG. AND WAS VERY PLEASED. SHE REC'D HAIR SERVICES WITH PAOLO AND A MASSAGE FROM JOSEPH... HOT! .... WOULDN'T GO ANY PLACE ELSE. (THIS IS A "SEX IN THE... read more
lOVED EVERY MINTUE – FROM THE MINUTE I WALKED IN TO THE MINUE I LEFT I FELT LIKE THE QUEEN FOR THE DAY I WOULD RECOMEND ARTISTA SALON &SPA TO ANY ONE.
Rudy Rocks – Thank God I found Rudy! He is amazing!!! Salon is hidden upstairs and is a pleasant surprise when you open the door.
A great gift – I gave my sister a gift certificate for a massage at Artista (using Citysearch.com), and wasn't sure if she would like it. As she left, she called me and gave it rave reviews. She said the atmosphere was beautiful, the staff was warm & friendly and Sage, the massage therapist, did an incredible job on her aching back!
Paolo's the best – I didn't realize how bad my hair looked until AFTER Paolo cut it. He did such a fantastic job that I was shocked by how much better it looked after he was done.
Just another facial – I had a facial there once. The experience was okay; nothing really stood out. For the price and service, I would rather go to other spas in the City where the place, people and service make me feel more comfortable and relaxed (I'll be respectful and not name other spas I DO recommend!). So if you are looking for a facial for "routine cleaning", sure, go there, or anywhere for that matter. But if you're looking for the luxurious spa experience, don't expect it from Artista.
good facial – the facial here improved my skin a lot...i had a special which included a facial, microdermabrasion and some kind of multi-vitamin treatment with a high frequency stimuli at the end. the microdermabrasion was a little uncomfortable b/c unlike other spas...this one uses a vacuum like wand and you can feel your face being sucked in. but overall...it improved the quality of my skin...and i go back every other week to get the high frequency treatment.
OVERPRICED AND PAINFUL – THE BRAZILIAN THERE WAS THE MOST PAINFUL I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I WENT WITH A FRIEND AND WE WERE BOTH MISERABLE. THE WAX TOOK A VERY LONG TIME..I THINK SHE WAS NEW AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING...GO TO DYANNA SALON A FEW BLOCKS A WAY. IT'S ABOUT HALF THE PRICE, FASTER AND LESS PAINFUL!!!!
Shhh! Artists's the Best! – I first treated myself to Artista on my birthday. Now I go there regularly. Paolo is a hair maestro, Ivana gives the best eyebrow wax I have ever experienced, and Angel is an angel at the shampoo sink! (Of course, don't tell anyone or this place will get packed and I'll never get appointments!)
Artista has no reviews yet.
Artista is closed now. It will open at 10:00 a.m.
