My guests were insulted by the staff/management – I used to love Artista. I am a frequent theater patron and always enjoyed having dinner at Artista before a show. That was before the Great Insult of 2008. A good friend of mine is from London and her parents were visiting Houston. I invited them to the theater as my guests. My friend's father wanted to treat us all to dinner. I recommended Artista believing that it would be a wonderful experience for them. We had a lovely dinner - food was great, had a super bottle of wine. ... read more

Slow service and mediocre food; the only redeemer was that we were seeing a musical at TUTS – My husband and I went there last night as part of his birthday celebration. It was our first time there so we were excited about it since we have enjoyed many meals at the other Cordua restaurants. I won't say that we will never go back but it will certainly not be a first choice for future celebrations. The service was very slow; in fact, we had to ask for our waiter. This should not have been the case as we were the second of the ... read more

Great Atmospher!Great Food! – My hustand and 7 other guests dined at Artista before the theatre last night. Artista still does a great job and service is fabulous BUT they need to go back to the original menu. The theatre menu reminded me of a cheap offer lunch. We used really enjoy choosy the different side items, the different sauces and having more options. Don't get me wrong the service and the food hey offered was all good and served timely, but there were no specials and the menu was not as appetizing. We really enjoy ... read more

Disapointed - service is terrible, good food – I went on a business lunch today and we had to sit by the bar since the room was full already and we didn't have reservations (we arrived at 11:45). By the time we left the place, the seating area by the bar was full too! We had to wait 15 minutes for our menus and another 15 minutes to order. Terrible service. They didn't have their executive lunch special today, which is part of the reason why we wanted to go there. Overall I was very disapointed with the lack of service. The ... read more

Overrated and overpriced – Given the quality of the ingredients used in the food and the knowledge-base of the staff, I wouldn't put this restaurant in the category of "fine dining." When I think fine dining, I think menus that change seasonally (not by the decade), ingredients purchased at the local markets to insure the highest quality (not delivered weekly by Sysco) and a staff of aspiring culinary devotees who are passionate about and truly know food. You will not find this at Artista, where there is not even a trace of ... read more

Enough with the snobby reviews.... – I?ve been to Artista twice and will likely go back in a few weeks when I see Rent. Both experiences were great. My first experience with Artista was before a show. The waiter made sure we were out with plenty of time before curtain. I was very impressed with the food. My second experience was just for drinks after a show. I don?t remember what I had. I only remember it was a great atmosphere. I thought the food was a little expensive but the convenience of being inside Hobby Center is pro... read more

Okay food, okay service – My husband and I went to Artista before a show at the Hobby Center. The interior is nice and the view of downtown is beautiful if you go after dark. The food was not bad, but it wasn't that good either. My husband and I ordered the Savory Empenda appetizer and it was very good, the complimentary plantain chips and sauce was delicious, but that was about it. The entrees were just okay. My husband ordered the Ribeyey cooked medium with a side of roasted potatos and a sauce that was comprised of pico d... read more

AMAZING food!!!!! – I LOVED this place! The complimentary plantain chips with yummy condiments were spectacular, the menu is inventive without being too artsy, and the blend of flavors is perfect! I love how you get to choose an item from each column. Dessert was delicious too! Great service, good wine recommendation... I will definitely go again and take more friends!

Don't waste your money. – This was my 1st time (and last) to Artista. Our party of 6 had 5:45 pm reservations prior to a show @ Hobby Center. Despite their checking twice to confirm our reservation, when we arrived our table for 6 was seated at a table set for 5 where we were all squeezed in. The restaurant is way overpriced for the quality of the food and service. Service was slow & our food was not hot when it arrived. I had 4 scallops & potatoes for $26 which is outrageous. The icing on the cake was when our 3 separate ch... read more
