unusal BBQ – What's with the gritty sausage and the grainy sauce? Very fun to visit though.
this is REAL BBQ – i'm a native to KC, MO and i've been all over the U.S. and never found anything that can stand up to the excellent flavor that Bryants BBQ has to offer.. mayve it's the sauce or the old building where all the food has been smoked for decades...what ever it is, i will continue to go back until i'm and old raggady women. :D
overrated – livingon reputation, even though the family is no longer around to uphold it- o.k. for a trip through memory lane and to enjoy the humongous order of fries- if you want real KC BBQ then head out to any of a dozen other joints for a better meal.
A state away – As a Kansas City native, I can honestly say that Author Bryants deservers to be at the top of any list of Kansas City's BBQ joints. The simple reasons that make Author Bryants famous are unchanged since its opening. From it's pit fired meat served in large proportions, to the renowned sauce, to it's dive atmosphere, Author Bryants embodies Kansas City BBQ and should be at the top of anyone's "to do" list when visiting Kansas City. Bewildered – Every KC barbeque review I've read has Arthur Bryant's at the top of the list and I will never understand why. I lived in KC for 27 years and ate at Bryant's once. If Bryant's isn't the worst barbeque in the country it has to be in the top two. And the service.... it's as if they think you should feel honored they're serving you at all!!! Not Recommended – We heard such great things about the BBQ, but the meat was really fatty. The sauce is spicy, I prefer a sweet, smokey sauce.
Oh, Baby! – Bryant's rules BBQ, in KC or anywhere. Don't use a fork, you'll want to grab that big brisket sandwich, slather it will the original rot-gut sauce, and just let it flow til it drips off your elbows. Then mop it all up with some of your mountain of crispy-greasy fries, and wash it down with a cold yard beer. This is the real deal. FYI - they do offer a "sweet" Masterpiece-style sauce now, but don't be a wimp .... get the original.
Awesome BBQ – I grew up with Bryants and I love it. From the grease on the FF to huge beef sandwich! The sauce is one that you love or hate. I love it. With out a doubt one of the best BBQ joints in town.
A taste of Kansas City – We dropped in at midnight - the place was busy, great ambience, great food line - fries served from a heap on the counter with gloved hands. The sandwich was soooooo big - we finished it for breakfast the next day. Great food in a hole in the wall place.
