Fish I have been to aqua tropics for a number of things. Bearded dragons for my son with a tank and crickets, Fish and Hammsters for my daughters, Food, Fishtanks. It does have a smell to it almost like a farm or home would with all the animals its hard to keep that many cages clean at one time. The turtle in the small holding tank belongs to the owner of the store and goes home with him at night to a large pond and home it has its own room. What a store Ok, My kids dragged me to aqua tropics to see the big turtles!. I found out later that they are sulcatta tortoises.This place is like a small zoo. Especially with all the tropical plants they have around the store.I've been to a lot of pet stores all over the west coast and they rank right at the top.Every one is friendly and very knowledgeable about there animals.After them spending about an hour with me going over requerments for keeping a sulcatta I toke one home, they even had a care sheet for me.Personalize... read more
Old name new store. The store has been going through a long renovation they got rid of the cats (my kids hate this change.) But the smell is gone. Brought in plants and the reptiles to the front. Feels like a rainforest when you come in. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It has become our new favorite place to visit every weekend. Every time we go in I find something new. STAY AWAY FROM AQUA TROPICS 'MIKE' THE OWNER IS UNFRIENDLY, RUDE AND THREATENING TOWARDS CUSTOMERS. I was ejected me from the store after he mistakenly interpreted my customer service issue as a personal insult. Story; I regularly buy feeder rats for our snake. Two feeder rats had died a few hours after I purchased them at his store. One died in our snake cage. The other one was still in its store packaging. aqua tropics smells, rude employees not the selection of fish they had years ago, also the fish some were double in price compared to other pet stores so look around first. Tanks are nasty looking, smells awful back by the turtle tanks like rot or something dead. High prices for small aquatic plants in comparison to other aquatic stores aqua tropics is way over priced. Will be a lifetime customer! What a great place! I went there to look at a bird & had the best pet store experience I have ever had. I am a cautious buyer & always have a million questions to ask when I go to purchase an animal. I usually know more then the pet store, but at Aqua Tropics they were kind, knowledgable & willing to answer all my questions & concerns. I have reptiles & now a bird :) & will be definitely be returning often for all my exotic pet care needs!
Remodeling aqua tropics!!! This mom n pop type shop is coming along beautifully. They are in the midst of a remodel , looking good.Large variety of amphibians etc. tropical plants huge selection very healthy. Can hardly wait to see what happens in there aquariums both freshwater and salt. All employees are very informative,pleasant, I look forward do doing more business with Crystal and Mike.
Rip-off I brought in a large number of coral because I was told by the employees that I could trade them for a fish that I wanted. Once they gave me my store credit, I was told to come back for the fish. When I went in to get it the owner told me that the fish was not for sale and that I would have to use my store credit elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing else that I want from that store. Unsatisfactory Conditions I went into the store the other day to visit the birds and reptiles, and was surprised to see one parakeet frantically biting his feet and falling off the cage bars repeatedly. At first I thought they had a mental condition, since I saw no sign for any other cause. As I looked around, however, they had a green Conure with feathers plucked from his abdomen.
