Pet rat I liked them, they are cheaper than Petsmart and have a bigger variety. I bought my rat here and though I was slightly worried because they were being kept in aquariums, my rattie turned out just fine. I took him to the vet and he got a clean bill of health from him. The only issues I had were A: they didn't have carry home boxes for the small pets, B: they were using pine or cedar for the small animal bedding (can cause respiratory issues) and C: it kind of had a bad smell to it, like to many animals in one place. Will be a lifetime customer! What a great place! I went there to look at a bird & had the best pet store experience I have ever had. I am a cautious buyer & always have a million questions to ask when I go to purchase an animal. I usually know more then the pet store, but at Aqua Tropics they were kind, knowledgable & willing to answer all my questions & concerns. I have reptiles & now a bird :) & will be definitely be returning often for all my exotic pet care needs!
Remodeling aqua tropics!!! This mom n pop type shop is coming along beautifully. They are in the midst of a remodel , looking good.Large variety of amphibians etc. tropical plants huge selection very healthy. Can hardly wait to see what happens in there aquariums both freshwater and salt. All employees are very informative,pleasant, I look forward do doing more business with Crystal and Mike. Unsatisfactory Conditions I went into the store the other day to visit the birds and reptiles, and was surprised to see one parakeet frantically biting his feet and falling off the cage bars repeatedly. At first I thought they had a mental condition, since I saw no sign for any other cause. As I looked around, however, they had a green Conure with feathers plucked from his abdomen. STAY AWAY FROM AQUA TROPICS 'MIKE' THE OWNER IS UNFRIENDLY, RUDE AND THREATENING TOWARDS CUSTOMERS. I was ejected me from the store after he mistakenly interpreted my customer service issue as a personal insult. Story; I regularly buy feeder rats for our snake. Two feeder rats had died a few hours after I purchased them at his store. One died in our snake cage. The other one was still in its store packaging. Solid Local Fish Store Their fish section is decent. Relatively few dead fish in the tanks (way fewer than Petco, anyway). Some of the staff are very knowledgable about fish care and the ones that aren't are at least honest about it (they don't BS you). They offer free tank water testing, which is great. You have to wait a while to get helped, but it's worth it. They're the best non-chain fish store in the Tri-Cities.
Hella expensive The store smells awful, and the kittens are always sick looking. they also charge $3 for ONE feeder mouse. I liked going there before to look at the fish and snakes but I know I can find a better deal some place else. Their prices are ridiculous. Most of the employees are super nice though.
What a store Ok, My kids dragged me to aqua tropics to see the big turtles!. I found out later that they are sulcatta tortoises.This place is like a small zoo. Especially with all the tropical plants they have around the store.I've been to a lot of pet stores all over the west coast and they rank right at the top.Every one is friendly and very knowledgeable about there animals.After them spending about an hour with me going over requerments for keeping a sulcatta I toke one home, they even had a care sheet for me.Personalize... read more
