Very impressed with Ballantyne location – I have been to the Ballantyne location twice in the last two months. Each time, the service was impeccable, food timed to our pace, and not a single detail overlooked. For those who suffer from sticker shock, stay home, or go to Olive Garden. Yes, prices are higher than at other restaurants, but you clearly get what you pay for. First class service, warm ambience, and some of the best desserts anywhere. Try the Bananas Foster prepared tableside!
Worth every penny – I was so disappointed to read some of the reviews, some of which could be dismissed as "bitter yankee" and "inability to spell", but some were just spiteful. What a shame, some of the others were right on the money, it is expensive, but worth it! I drive up from Rock Hill as often as possible, for the lunch buffet, which is very reasonably priced, for the wine tastings, an excellent value! And when finances allow...a big huge fabulous dinner. We enjoy the dancing, although I have never seen the floor show... read more
Guard your eyes when you view the dancers on Saturday nites. – I have always been impressed by the style, the elegance of the servers, the atmosphere, but while sitting in the dancing area, lounge last Saturday night, I was a little shocked, or maybe I dont get out enough. There were women with women and men with women, and etc, groping, fondling tonguing deeply, graphically, and dancing vulgarally as if in a strip joint on the dance floor. I was rather surprised to see this type of atmosphere in this fine dining establishme... read more
My favorite night out – My wife and I simply love Villa Antonio. The food is always out of this world, and if anything is ever less than perfect, the staff are properly horrified and do their best to correct it. The wine selection has been criticized as being too pricey. I agree that it's pricey, but if you like wine -- and I do -- then you don't mind paying a little bit extra for these fine bottles that you really can't find anywhere else. Try the Montecalvi. You'll thank me later. If we're not going there for dinner, we lo... read more
Great service, good food, romantic atmosphere – My fiance and I went here the first time almost by mistake, and since then it has become one of our favorite restaurants. The staff is attentive, but also respectful of the guests' space, so you can have a romantic "date night." The food is great, always well prepared, presented, and unique. A little pricey, but well worth it. The owner even comes out to greet the guests. Makes it feel homey and not as generic as some restaurants.
italian – nice place for drinks and dancing(bar area)the food just doesnt wow you for the price.the wine prices are way overpriced for quality you get.the staff is friendly and attentive.
don't listen to these bad reviews – I wonder if "dmar5143" actually tasted the "vinegar" they serve with the bread. It is a mix of extra virgin olive oil, herbs, and balsamic vinegar. Also, I've never tasted cornbread that tasted like their Italian bread. To "major351971" who is from NY and used to "GREAT Italian food," I wonder what you ate, because the head chef who is the owner's brother grew up in Spain with a heavily influenced Italian family. He has been cooking since he was young, taking a lot of recipes from his upbr... read more
What an EMBARRASSMENT – Simply put, this food tasted like it was from a TV dinner. No joke. I'm originally from NY and used to GREAT Italian food and I have to say, BY FAR this was the WORST Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The ONLY thing nice about this place was the ambience and they do it up real nice because they must know the food is terrible. But come on, we're paying a lot of money and at the very least, the food should be of the highest quality. Everything tasted like it was from a can and not prepared fresh. ... read more
A superb staff and candlelight set the scene for delicious Northern Italian cuisine, a rare commodity in Charlotte. – The Scene Even though the tables are set with linen and the superb staff wears black-tie, the place doesn't feel stuffy at all. Instead, it's friendly and accommodating. The cozy, dark wood accents make it perfect for dinners by candlelight. Villa Antonio remains an undiscovered gem. It's one of those places that newcomers often overlook because it's neither downtown nor out in the 'burbs. Still, enough long-... read more
