We took the hike to the left. The bulk of the flowers are on the hike to the right on the low ground. If you want a nice hike with a spectacular finish start out on the left. Wonderful access and restrooms/port-a-potty were available. Wonderful trails and great blooms to see. The only problem was there was NO WATER to fill bottles or wash hands after the restroom.

Worth the drive. From Santa Clarita, take the scenic route, San Francisquito Canyon Rd, through the river bed. Get there early.

Maybe you should mention on your Facebook page before people drive miles and miles to the middle of nowhere that there is a park user fee that is CASH only. After driving all the way there we couldn't stay to enjoy the poppies or visit the Interpretive Center because we didn't have any cash to pay for parking. VERY DISSAPPOINTING. We would have been happy to oay, we even expected to pay, but we assumed we'd be able to make an electronic payment at the entrance.

It was so beautiful to see our state flower and no better then with my wife and 2 boys. We loved it so much and the pictures came out so good. We stopped by and got some homemade honey from a local.
