fun to mix, toss, and swirl – You can do anything to your ice cream here, even toss your ice cream in the air. Just make sure the scooper doesn't touch the ceiling! My favorite thing to order here is mexican vanilla with strawberries. The portions are HUGE, as well as the price. It seems pretty expensive to pay $6 for ice cream, but the atmosphere and quantity is worth it. I enjoy the music during the week, but no so much on the weekend. It is definately a place for the high schoolers and college scene.
Great after movie snack – So Amy's makes great ice cream, frozen yogurt (fat free and no sugar added for diabetics like my husband) and they are right next to Westgate Theater so it's a great after movie snack. And if you have never been to an Amy's you might not know about the entertainment value. They fold your favourite crushin into the ice cream in a fun way (let's just say that the employees must have no stress after a shift of beating the ice cream into submission)! Check it out!
Creamy ice cream, great for that sweet tooth! – Amy's is always a nice place to drop by when crusing The Quarry, nothing beats ice cream in the sizzling TX heat! Although i love to hang out there w/my friends, i do find some of the flavors a bit too sweet, often need to down some water after eating the ice cream (i am a die hard fan of bitter sweet ice creams of Hagendoz & Italian Gelato). However their yogurt suits me just right, and they do carry a good selection of toppings.
Texas heat can be beat with cool creations from this homegrown ice cream parlor. – In Short Amy's Ice Cream has been a tradition since Amy Miller opened the first shop in 1984. With such homemade flavors as Mexican vanilla, sweet cream and, for the truly Texan, Shiner Bock, there's an ice cream concoction here for veryone. On warm evenings, a crowd of families and couples gather and the murmur of friendly chit-chat can be heard over the sound of paddles beating candy or cookie mix-ins into ice cream scoops.

It's the coolest, man... – I've been going to Amy's for about 10 years now and I can say, withouth reservation, that it is the best ice cream in Houston. They have some standard flavors (Mexican Vanilla, White Chocolate, Sweet Cream, etc.) but they have 4 or 5 flavors that change every week, so theres always something new to try. The servers are creative and fun, though perhaps a bit startling to those unused to the Montrose/Shepherd styles. I definitely reccomend it to everyone, but it's particularly fun for kids and casual... read more
Visit this local incarnation of the Austin original where cool creations and high-flying scoops keep the crowds coming back. – The Scene On warm evenings, Amy's can get a little cacophonous with the percussion of ice cream paddles beating candies or cookies into the scoops. Look up to catch the sight of those same scoops flying high over the tops of the employees' crazy hats to land with precision (most of the time) into the cones and cups. The seating area is small, but the location near Borders Books is ideal. The Food Wit... read more
Best Ice Cream in town! – They have really fun flavors, and all the people that work there are really funny and nice. I really recommend giving Amy's a try.
