Very professional staff and Doctor, felt very comfortable even during the middle of the spread of the virus.
Dr Smithline returns calls promptly, and is very professional and knowledgeable. As a retired RN I really respect these qualities. I have recommended Dr Smithline to many friends.
Worse doctor ever. Never even called in the prescription for the medicine I should take. Someone from the office called to tell me my stool sample was okay but I still had symptoms and asked to have the doctor called me. She was rude on the phone and said I had a choice of a colonoscopy or medication. I said i would take the antibiotic but when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up she had never called in the prescription. Has she been practicing bad medicine for 30+ years?
Since I had to undergo an Emergency Room visit and admission to Stamford Hospital in April, 2019, because of a gastric emergency, I relieved that Dr. Smithline agreed to accept me as her patient. The reason for the hospital experience might have been the result of less-than-thorough treatment by another local gastroenterologist. My experiences with Dr. Smithline during these follow-up weeks have been totally supportive and positive.
Dr. Smithline was SUCH a great doctor to me. She really helped me understand what was going on with me. She took her time to explain everything to me. She is so sweet and wonderful. Although, she may be running a bit late, she really takes the time to go over everything. Would prefer someone like that over someone who rushes.
I would not recommend Dr. Smithline. I scheduled the first exam of the day because I knew I'd be quite hungry due to the prep for the exam. To have to wait for 40 additional minutes in a cold room dressed only in a surgical gown; was unacceptable. Also, it is my belief that the doctor rushed the procedure; allowing excess air to enter my body. Having had many of these exams in the past, I have never been crampy afterwards. This experience was not a good one.
Great doctor, very professional and kind
I would not recommend her. It is all about money. I have been kept waiting a ridiculous amount of time. In addition, when there was a problem with my health insurance (a clerical error). I was told she would nor see me til it was cleared up. This is despite the fact that I had paid all my prior bills. My word was not good enough.
Professional, patient-focused provider. Excellent experience over many years.
