I am amazed that something that is life saving will have some (not all) people working there treat with such disdain. I was able to give blood once, but instead of keeping a record of what happened, the woman there went through the ENTIRE process again, this time deciding I'll have to come back another time. Got rejected to donate blood for being 10 minutes late to my appointment on a Saturday and it's not like the place was busy. Pretty lousy way to treat a regular donor (145+ units). I went out of my way on a Saturday and sacrificed/wasted my free time. You'd think they'd be a little more appreciative of that. 10 minutes shouldn't be such a big deal they couldn't still squeeze me in, I'd have waited. Guess I'll go to Vitalant instead. It's things like this that happen and then they wonder why more people don't donate.
Turns out I was high blood pressure and I'm stupid. I am sincerely sorry, thanks for trying to warn me.
I've been donating power reds for years. I was excited to donate platelets for the first time. I took a day off from work with no pay. Drove almost one hour to Akron, only to be told that because I had scratches on my arm, which I got from working on my car, that I couldn't donate. I was crushed. They just looked at me and said nope, walked away..... almost as if I had the plague. I will not be back. My first impression of the Akron office was like having to listen to Dr Fauci all over again. Soooooo disappointing.
