I scheduled an appointment at this location and arrived ready to donate blood. Before beginning the process, I politely asked if I could have my blood drawn from a seated position instead of lying down, as I find it uncomfortable to donate when elevated. Other Red Cross locations have accommodated this request without any issue, so I assumed it would not be a problem. Years ago, I would have told you that the Red Cross was an organization everyone would aspire to be a part of. When I was 16, my mom signed me up for a CPR course with them, and my experience was positive. Fast forward to now: I’m an MPH student in need of an internship, and Red Cross seemed like the obvious choice based on my past experience with them.
