RecommendedGrowing up in Philadelphia, Allied Hobbies was the place to go. Al and Martin were always so helpful. During my high School years 94-98, it was a daily stop for me. Al hired me after I graduated Northeast High School, and work there until I joined the Marine Corp in 2000. It is sad to hear a part of my childhood has closed, bad news does travel slowly.
People there were always helpful and I enjoyed being able to see the non-train stuff (we usually just go to train stores).
Sad to see another great store close for good.
Grew up with them in the 80s at RM..Just found out today they are gone.. Now I'll have to drive to NJ for my Tamiya paints or order online
This store will always be apart of my childhood growing up. It's sad I won't be able to take my daughter when she gets older �
I used to work there from 1982 to 1985 and I made life-long friends with many co-workers and customers. This store will be missed, an end of an era.
I started with Alled Hobbies back in the 80's when they were in the Roosevelt Mall. They always had something I wanted to build, I was always able to find something. Top quality model kits, top quality paints and supplies to top quality advice and tips. If I had anything to complain about I think it would be that they've gotten a little pricey. But, on the other hand I do understand that there really isn't anything they can do about that. Allied Hobbies is one of those stores you actually look forward to going to.....
Been going there since the Eighties,love to see the awesome models on the ceiling and friend Martin.
