Steak. Oysters. Martinis. Manhattans. Whiskey. San Francisco. Tradition. Authentically San Franciscan since 1928. Real steaks. Real martinis. Real San Francisco. Tucked in a nondescript alleyway in the Financial District, Alfred's boasts bold red walls with glimmering crystal chandeliers, and plush leather booths. Martinis served with personal shakers or the collection of whiskies help ease the relaxed diner into a hearty dinner. The beef, be it a eight-ounce grass-fed Filet Mignon or a twenty eight ounce Alfred's Cut, bone-... read more

extensive menu The bone in, that's what it's all about. They have an extensive menu, sure, just about anything you can ever ask for, but just go and try it, you'll be hooked like I am.
A CON JOB Over Priced. Bad timing of serving. Hidden fees. Added charges. Lack luster food. Insipid side sauces. Owner alledges governmental involvement in the restaurant business has caused them to have to charge a 17% service charge to every bill. Then they "tax" the service charge. They you tip your normal 20%. There are also all sorts of rules and additional fees listed all over the menu. You get the impression this restaurant owner is vengeful and tired of the restaurant business.
Sinatra is sitting next to you A classic place without the pretension of some of the other places. Not sure what the new gratuity angle that others are talking about but we love it for the sides and excellent steaks with an Italian twist on things.
Classic San Francisco steak house. Old world style decor. Ginormous cuts of meat and it tastes good too. They have the best osobucco ever. Service is good as well.
Future steak lover's beware. This is the worst Steakhouse in the world. We ordered our steaks medium-rare, but they came out black and crispy, and tasting burned cardboard. What's worse is it had less taste than a bottle of flavorless vitamin water. The service was sucked, we waited about an hour for the steaks. On top of that, there was a 17% mandatory tip added to the bill despite how the lousy food and service. We got the steaks to guy for the dog, but thought better of it after considering how horrible they were. If your... read more
Good Food - Bad Service - Expensive I came here with my girlfriends last week. Steaks were very tasty and tender, all the drinks and dessert was pretty delicious. But the service wasnât that great for what we paying.
Okay This was a good, old-fashioned steak house. It's decor was old, but still up-scale. The steaks were good, but the service was nothing to write home about. Overall a good restaurant, but a bit pricey.
Steak house old skool is the best skool. I really like this steakhouse why? well it true that the food is not the greatest and the location not downtown, but still the place is old and stay old every time I go there. I think it first open 1928 and the bar, chairs and walls still from those years old and special. I like it
no frou frou frills Awesome joint. Takes you back in time. Old school waiters, very knowledgeable, great service. The food is delicious, and no frou frou frills... just meats done great, potatoes to die for, and fabulous creamed spinach. Oh, and of course, you gotta start off with a martini or other old school cocktail - bartenders know the meaning of a generous pour!
