Old hotel in heart of Philadelphia with nice amenities.
I've stayed at the Alexander whenever I come to Philly for work or visit friends. I adore the staff and have never had poor service. Additionally, the events they put on in the common space in the evenings are great as a solo traveller. However, it definitely feels like the place has not aged well. Their carpets on each floor need a deep clean and the heating is in desperate need of updates. Plus, an all around interior touch up in the rooms. That being said it is still charming. It's OK nothing special
Run, do not walk from this place. Bed is awful, comforter dirty. Bad untrained employees who don't care. Needed ice for medicine and ice machine is broken with no one caring that it is. This is owned by a private equity group that is clearly milking it dry. Breakfast, cold coffee that was just put out as fresh, no cream for coffee, hard boiled eggs not cooked all the way through. I like to stay in hotels or boutique inns within neighborhoods to get the feel of a city. Plus I’m a history buff! I’m from California and had never been to Philadelphia. Alexander Inn was great! I got a wonderful nightly rate after the 4th of July. Beds were very firm, which I prefer. It was nice to have a tv in the room. The view from the 7th floor was great!
