Skip this one. – Service took quite a while for a Thursday night. The soup tasted like a' la vodka sauce. The food wasn't so much bad tasting but devoid of any flavor. So uninspiring. Expensive for uninspiring as well. First batch of table bread was OK, second batch was stale. The bread was essential as you are forced to wait so long for your food. The beer selection was awful. Here's a tip for restaurants........there are more bottled beers in the world beyond Bud, Bud Light, Heineken, Amstel Light and Corona. They did have... read more

Business response:

We are sorry that someone used their cell phone in the garden. Also, we do have several other beers such as Moretti, Sam Adams, Guiness, Michelob Ultra, Harp, etc.. Also, mussels are closed when they are purchased. If a mussel is open (when raw) it usualy is not edible, unless it is opened by someone to eat raw. The point is that when the mussels are cooked a chef cannot tell if it is full or not. PLEASE next time notify the manager or Peter (the owner).

TERRIBLE SERVICE – Tried Aleo last night with friends for a birthday dinner. Although it got several good reviews, we should have paid more attention to the negative ones. Our reservation was for 8PM & were seated immediately. We were off to a good start but unfortunately, everything went down hill quickly. Our waiter came to the table to introduce himself & then we didnt see him again for at least 25 min. We wanted to order wine & apps but couldn't find our waiter. When he came back to the table, we ordered 2 bottles of win... read more

Business response:

We are sorry you had issue with the service. Perhaps pleasing everyone in every facet is a little difficult. Our food is "PRIME TIME", and if you had an issue here or anywhere else (NYC or elsewhere), please notify a manager immediately.

One of its kind restaurant – Aleo is one of those finds where you're stuck between keeping it to yourself or telling everybody about the wonderful food and service that was bestowed on you. It is still a restaurant where the service doesnt make you feel like you should be honored to be served by them especially in places with the same caliber as Aleo. As soon as you come inside the door, you are greeted with a warm welcome and are given the option to sit at a table to linger at the bar for as long as you like (which is also ... read more

Great Food...Great Time – Been to Aleo's a few times, always great. Went Saturday night for a late dinner for my sister's birthday, and it was delicious. I had the ravioli special which was fantastic, and sampled everyone elses dishes. From the steak to the rissotto, to the stuffed sole, everything was awesome. The tiramisu is to die for; i've never had anything better. The service was great. We were there late, and never felt rushed out. The waitstaff, bartender and manager were all very polite and eager to please. I would ... read more

Worst Service...!!!!! – In Short. Made reservation's a month in advance for Mother's day for a group of Mother's (20 plus) had talked it over with manager for contingency plan for weather related issue that may happen for the outdoor seating. Manager inform that they will take care of everything, if cold-they will have heaters ready, if rain- they will move us inside. That night of dinner, temp was a bit chilly ask for heater to be turn on waiter said they ran out of gas, started to rain, no room inside, they had a tent that... read more

Business response:

We did turn on the radiant wall heaters for you. We did ask if you wanted to sit inside and you refused since your party arrived in separate groups, up to 45 minutes after your reservation. As a result of your initial refusal we had "walk-in" dinners that we sat at the tables we held for your contingency. We took three separate orders for appetizers at three separate times as a result of the group arrival times. We provided complimentary appetizers, complimentary dessert, and did not charge for your coffee, tea, etc. plus an... read more

Memorable special ocasion parties, Anytime wine & dine , Very nice staff – This is not the first time my girlfriends and I celebrate one of our birthdays at Aleo. In fact, we lost the count of all the good times we celebrated there. Our passion for Aleo grew from ordering dinner (our favorite, tuna tartare and shrimp risotto) to celebrating several of our family and friends special occasion parties at the place. And, the wine ... the manager is always there to assist us on finding a superb wine to match our dinner. The list ... read more

Excellent food and service – Went last night for dinner. Really enjoyed the experience. We ordered the grilled calamari, the insalata, and the carne of the night (sirloin au povire). Everything was delicious. Service was great, food was excellent. The only problem I had was that I asked for medium rare, on the rare side, I wanted to see the meat bloody. No such luck, it was definitely more on the medium side. And to end the dinner, cheesecake was creamy and yummy. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Awesome place for a big group dinner! – I decided to try this restaraunt for my birthday partly based on reading the reviews in citysearch but I was more impressed by the fact that someone from the restaraunt read and tried to respond to negative reviews. We were a group of 14 but some of the party couldnt make it on time due to the fact they were performing in a play. The restaraunt seated us anyway and one of my friends joked he was really hungry. The waiter gave us a free appetizer to ease the hunger. The food was good an... read more

Reasonable – I went to Aleo last night with my girlfriend. In my opinion, the food was good, but nothing to really write home about. My girlfriend, on the other hand, thought the food was absolutely fantastic, mainly because the pastas we chose were more cream-based (more her thing than mine). The meal was pretty reasonably priced - appetizers, entrees, desert and a bottle of wine came out to $100, post-tax, pre-tip. The atmosphere seemed a bit more like a corporate lunch-spot than a cozy date spot to me. The walls were a li... read more
