The store carries a full selection of books on climbing routes and mountaineering, gear for mountaineering and backpacking, hiking boots, outerwear, Nordic skis and accessories. Sea kayaks are available for purchase or for rent (during the summer). The staff is a group of consummate outdoors people who are climbing and hiking specialists and happy to help you craft your very own extreme Alaskan adventure.

Great gear and friendly knowledgeable staff.
I would never recommend going in here. The way the staff treated a husband looking for XL gear for his wife is shameful. And the stores response of gaslighting was even worse. Do not support a company that further perpetuates a culture of body shaming.
Will never set foot in the door of this business. “We don’t carry XL because we cater to active women”. The employee who stated this needs to be trained how to be respectful to customers and if fat shaming is a store policy SHAME on you!
Fast turn around time when you need ski poles cut. A nice Alaska owned business instead of going to REI.
AMH's treatment of women customer's is abhorrent. Their elitism and discrimination is out of touch, and when called out on this poor behavior all they can offer is non-apologies which blame the customer. I will not be shopping at AMH until they offer a heartfelt apology and share what efforts they are making in changing the culture and business practices.
Poor customer relations, will find more customer friendly company
