I have enjoyed Al Forno since it's beginnings on Steeple St. The food is not pretentious, but exceedingly well done. Everything is absolutely delicious! The wine selection, whether by bottle or glass, is balanced and offers something for every taste. Desserts are to die for and most are baked to order. Service is excellent. On occasion, I have had to wait for a table and it can be a bit expensive but, at AL Forno, you get what you pay for and that translates to excellence!
Kitchen was a bit slow, but I'd rather have hot food than everyone eating teped food all at once.
What else is there to say about such a classic restaurant? Ask for the " Dirty Steak ". They only have so many orders of it, it's not on the menu and they aren't going to tell you!!
Lovely wine selection by the glass or bottle. Local oysters - medium, briny, but not too salty. Monkfish perfectly prepared and presented with roasted, tender brussel sprouts. The eggplant was delicious - not breaded or fried - and served with deliciously fresh mozzarella! Perfect!
