The décor is muted, the furnishings solid, the staff mature and sure-footed and the traditional Indian cuisine- Sagwala, Makhani, Pulao are simply perfect. All the elements combine to make a visitor feel comfortable and relaxed. The lunch buffet is one of the city's best bargains.

If you like it hot On recommendation from friends who know I like HOT food, my husband and I ate here. WOW! Their shrimp vindaloo was the BEST I ever tasted! I ordered it "call out the fire department" hot and they didn't disappoint! Not just hot, but very nicely spiced. My husband ordered a milder dish (korma) and it was wonderful, too. Definitely plan to eat here again on our next vacation to Baltimore!
Very good afgan food One of the best ethnic food restaurants in town. With a great atmosphere to boost. Beautiful pillows abound, candles everywhere, and extra spicey food. The depth and complexity of the flavors are hard to beat. PROS: Great food CONS: None
Perfect for dinner alone, with a special someone, or with friends From the outside, one might not expect much from this restaurant. Once you go inside, you appreciate its romantic atmosphere. Eating here, is like eating a wonderful home cooked meal with all the trimmings. Their lunch buffet is a must try because it is low priced and includes many items. The staff is very friendly and will help you decide on the perfect meal, if you cannot choose from the many items.

Indian Restaurant with Bad Customer Service I don't know if this is a great location, there are two or more other Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. They are poor on customer service. They say they'll give you rice with each entree, but they don't. And when you ask for it, they make a big, deal...how inexpensive is the rice compared to losing the customer. Avoid these arrogant people...read on – I have eaten in hundreds of restaurants all over the world and I never met such a behaviour as I did in Akbar in Baltimore. We went to this restaurant and ordered two dishes. The place looked pretty nice and the prices were not cheap but acceptable.
