I just had an experience at this establishment and it was not a pleasant one. To start with, I have to say that I can't rate the food because I didn't get to eat mine. My experience is all about the service, or lack there of... our waitress became rude at some point after we asked for things like condiments. Food was overpriced and not great at all. Sauvignon Blanc was disgusting. I tried the cheese dip, not a fan, tasted processed. The crab dip was dry. The mashed potatoes were inedible. You really only need garlic and cream but they dumped a whole jar of oregano into one small bowl. I probably won't return for a while.
I really enjoy going to the Afton Tavern with my daughter's for a relaxing evening.
Slow service and cold food!! Took a group of nine for my daughters birthday. Reuben sandwich was only grilled on one side and the cheese was not even melted. Very disappointed, as in the past we have always been more than pleased. Waiter was good and if not for him I would have given 2 stars.
I've been there twice. One time i went with a friend ans we sat outside and the service and food was great. Only the desert came out late so they ended up giving it for free. So i brought a bunch of family and we ate inside. They served all our food except my sisters. Apparently they were out of crab cakes, but didn't say so until they served our food. Went here tonight and was not impressed with the food. We ordered the fish and chips...the fish was over cooked and the fries were old and cold. The cornbread was hard as a rock, and the waiter forgot to put in our appetizer order. However, I am so impressed with the manager; Chelsea. She went above and beyond to make everything right. I appreciate that she took responsibility for her staff and tried to provide good customer service.
Their food is always delicious, but seriously over priced. I ordered jumbo shrimp, got a handful of normal sized shrimp, a tiny serving of rice and a hard piece of cornbread. With a wedge salad that added $2 to my bill, I ended up paying $20 for something that should have only cost $10 max!! Very disappointed. It will be a long time before we go back.
