This place is quite possibly the best used-record and used-CD place in town. They carry a good selection of Jazz and Rock albums as well as Classical and Opera and all the areas in between. Serious collectors frequent this establishment weekly as the stock turns over very quickly. If you want to sell some of your albums or CDs, Academy will purchase them for a higher price than most music exchanges in New York.

It's great that stores like this still exist and I was pleased to be able to visit yesterday afternoon during a trip to NYC. However, my checkout experience was not a pleasant one. The woman who checked me out merely scowled at me when I said "hi" and did not utter a single word during the process. Not a big deal, perhaps, but physical media stores need all the help they can get these days and good customer experience should be a vital part of it.
I fall in love with this place! Left it with a big bday smile on my face that still lasts. I'll definitely be back!
