This place is quite possibly the best used-record and used-CD place in town. They carry a good selection of Jazz and Rock albums as well as Classical and Opera and all the areas in between. Serious collectors frequent this establishment weekly as the stock turns over very quickly. If you want to sell some of your albums or CDs, Academy will purchase them for a higher price than most music exchanges in New York.

I had only one personal request going into my recent family visit to NYC: a combined Christmas+birthday shopping spree at Academy Records. In my almost three-hour inaugural visit, I wasn't disappointed. The selection and quality were all I'd read they would be, and (unmentioned in most reports) the prices were extremely fair. An excellent record shop in the center of Manhattan. The guys working there are friendly and know about music. If you are a collector, you might find the rare items that you always wanted to add to your collection, and at affordable prices too. I only visited New York twice so far, and both times I went to academy records. And both times I found items that I was looking for. I will definitely go there and buy music from these great guys.
