I had a very unpleasant experience here. The unit I was shown was beautiful. The common areas were quite lovely and I wanted to live there. I applied online at 8:00am and at 8:45 I receive an email saying my application has been cancelled without explanation. The $550 I put down had been debited from the bank. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Constant water shutoffs, sewage leaking onto cars in the parking lot, broken elevators, dog poop in the stairwells. In just the past week, there have been repeated “false” fire alarms, up to four incidents (3/10, 3/12, 3/16, 3/17), including alarms going off in the middle of the night (around 2:00 AM). Residents are being subjected to unnecessary disruptions and sleep deprivation and management does nothing about it. I cannot recommend 5550 Wilshire to anyone, particularly families with minor children. While the property markets itself as a luxury community with premium rental rates approaching $4,000 per month, the reality has been deeply disappointing. There are ongoing safety concerns that management has failed to adequately address. In just the past week, there have been repeated “false” fire alarms, up to four incidents (3/10, 3/12, 3/16, 3/17), including alarms going off in the middle of the night (around 2:00 AM). These are not unavoidable emergencies. Management has admitted in writing that the alarms were false and triggered by preventable causes like vendor debris, smoking in prohibited areas, and issues in retail spaces.
