Top Rated Saturday Night Spot. – One of the hottest word of mouth night spot in Boston. Saturday nights are amazing. The music & vibe (which varies from uplifting house music to Latin to Pop) provided by 28's resident dj Cruzz, sets a great vibe with the local young professionals. I've noticed some local celebrities frequenting this night every week. The have great drinks, and easy going food. 28 it's just a fabulous chill spot, for the mature crowd. Jess.
Some good dishes but spoiled by poor hospitality – Had dinner with friends 2 weeks ago at 28 degrees. Some dishes are worth trying (e.g., raviolis with perfect peas, carpaccio) but the wine list is very shallow, with only a few choices in each category and mostly overpriced (e.g., a Marques de Caceres Rioja over $55??). The worst part of the experience was to feel rushed by the wait staff and even kicked out of the table at the end of the meal after I had spent over $200. You can't pretend to be a classy place and kick peopl... read more
Options – Plenty of other good options in the South End -- try Sibling Rivalry or Masa for better alternatives.
What A Joke – The entire staff, especially the petty little manager, suffers from a shared delusion that this is some sort of VIP club. The only interesting thing about this place is the bathroom.
Good place that will be great if they sort out the service... – Boston's lounge scene has really not caught up with other major US cities- NYC, SF or Miami- tending to be overwhelmed by beer drinking trust fund frat boys, trashy sorority chicks, on the make Brazilian gay boys and a tendency to show sports on every major large screen. This lounge, bar and tapas style restaurant attempts to give the South End something an alien from Chelsea, SoHo or South Beach might feel at home in. B and I have tried it on a few nights now (... read more
Nice place to go with friends... – i went to 28 degrees for an early dinner last night with 4 other friends. it was 6pm on a thursday, so it was pretty empty. the waitress was very attentive, and so was the woman bussing the table. maybe a little too attentive. in the beginning, we thought this was a good thing because our water glasses were never empty. but later, they kept trying to take things away when we weren't even done. food was good. it wasn't the best food in boston, but nothing stood out as bad or as something we ... read more
New favorite place – Ok, so I've been here three times in the past month! In my experience there are two waiters...and one is a million times better than the other one. The scene for dinner is a bit different than the later scene for drinks. Unfortunately, when we went for drinks we were seated in the room furthest back next to the door that people kept opening to go outside. Once we told our waiter he moved us right over to another table. I've never experienced attitude here- from servers, doormen or hostesses. As for the f... read more
Fancy american tapas restaurant – Twenty-eight degrees is a modern restaurant and bar in South End, next door to Icarus and Masa. The cocktail list is very inventive and edgy. The tapas themselves are very good, and different on the fact that this is new American style cuisine. The fact that there is only a very limited number of full entrees is disapoointing though. Overall, tapas can get expensive if you're really hungry. However, if your point is more to go out to a bar and have something to nible on while enjoying your d... read more
Miami-esque atmosphere, great service – Went on a Wednesday night for the first time with a party of three. Host was friendly and promptly seated us outside, where we wanted to be. The patio is warm and inviting despite a less-than-perfect view of Berkeley St. Atmosphere inside and outside were very reminiscent of places I've been in Miami. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. Our water glasses were constantly refreshed and courses were brought promptly, even though there were only a few of us outside and inside... read more
