I am a current member and former 24 Hour Fitness employee. Since the gym was understandably closed on the 16th, I have been charged 3 times, total of just shy of $160. My normal billing date is consistently the 16th or 17th, so I was charged March 16th, the day they closed, March 24th for my annual fee, and then again just yesterday April 14th. 24 sent out a letter saying all fees the 16th and onward will be suspended. When this shelter in place order was placed on March 13, I was surprised to see the money taken out of my account on the 15th. There was no way I was going to have access to the facilities. The company made it super hard to get through given only opportunity to have your voice heard is through email. So many people complained that the CEO said that the money that was taken out would just be added to the end of your membership. I can't believe that it's April 15 and I'm still getting charged for my membership and I haven't been able to go to the gym for over a month now. They should've been suspended everyone's account by now. I can't afford to have them taking any money out my account. I need that money to support my family. I need and want my $40 back.

During a national pandemic in March 2020, 24 Hour Fitness left members with no way to cancel memberships! Clubs were closed, and they did not answer the corporate phones. So I notified them by certified mail to cancel my membership. They have ignored this legal communication and instead charged my credit card twice since being notified! Here's how to cancel your membership AND get a refund for March fees - Call 888.243.5002 and when the voice prompt asks if you are a member, say NO. Then when the prompt asks for your reason for calling, say PURCHASE. You WILL be connected to an actual person! If you say yes when asked if you are a member, you will get a recorded voice that tells you the call center is closed. We all know at this time that because of shelter in place orders gyms cannot charge us membership fees. I was surprised to see that 24 Hour Fitness continued to charge me and when I called their customer service says that automatic message says nobody is available to speak to customers. And when I tried to use send an email the page won't allow it. Unacceptable that 24 Hour Fitness is unreachable at this time. I had a complaint with 24 Fitness and contacted their Member services. They helped me out and helped me understand the situation. They were courteous and found a resolution. I've been a member for almost 20 years and will continue to be. I highly recommend 24 hour fitness.

It is disgusting how 24 Hour Fitness treat the members during pandemic. All I can say is CALL THE BANKS AND DISPUTE THE CHARGE. Cancel the membership when the gym opens.
