Went out of my way ( completely out of my way ) to donate 4 huge bags of really good clothing - they refused to take. No exceptions. I understand no space, I also understand the need bc I work and volunteer within the marginalized community of Victoria. I find it infuriating when the type of people that are supposed to be compassionate, understanding, warm and friendly are not ( in this type of field where it falls for that ) they don’t belong there. Fantastic services. I have been a participant in one of their programs for over a year and it's has helped me immensely in understanding my separation and coming to terms with my sadness and loss. Highly recommend contacting 1Up for help whether you feel lost in your relationship with your current spouse or having issues being a single parent. Take are of you, so you can take care of yours.
I am really grateful this society is here to help. I accessed help before Halloween and they had the best costumes for kiddo and a wonderful food share of fresh veggies. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the opportunities we have and enjoying the activities from all the generous donors and connecting with other parents.
Trying to donate toys and I'm told that there's too much "shame" in getting a child a used toy. To the lady on line 1, you made it sound like the service you're offering is one that people should be ashamed to come to. This is a place people come for resources. Thanks Karen, you must love the single mothers you help.
