Dough not to my taste – 4/3/07 Ordered a large deep dish sausage, onion, and mushroom, $26 and a thin slice of veggie combo. I came to Oakland just try the pizza. It has received a lot of good mentions, and to me uncooked dough is not properly prepared food. Some may like a gooey uncooked substance, but this standard for me is unacceptable. Best Pizza I've had!! – I love love love Zachary's pizza. Deep dish chicken and basil. Or deep dish special with bell peppers and sausage. Or deep dish anything! Wish they had more locations so that I didn't have to drive to Oakland for pizza... Sadly I do. But it's worth it!!
The best pizza you will ever eat – They serve regular thin-crust, but you'd be a fool not to get the deep-dish. Best tomato sauce anywhere, delicious cheese, tons of toppings to chose from, but even plain old cheese is hardly "plain." There can be a long wait on weekend nights, but the place is fun and the servers are good, and its worth the wait every time once you tuck in. Calling ahead is probably a good idea on weekends. Best Pizza Ever, Wish Pizza was Healthier – I'm all about the half baked pizza's. No waiting in line, no tips (haha), and you can go home and heat it up on your own. The pizza can't get any fresher. Whenever my work brings me by a Zachary's Pizza, I always have to stop by and pick up some dinner. The only thing I don't like is that the phone is usually busy. Hot, Gooey Deep Dish Pizza – This place is hopping. Very, very busy. Call ahead if you want take-out. The crust is good, the tomato sauce is excellent, and everything is good. The deep dish pizza is very gooey and rich. Pesto is especially recommended. A high -quality pizza product, much better than a chain.
Great Chicago style pizza! MMMM... – Okay. So Zachary's has got some amazing pizzas. Although they are still the best around, they haven't been as consistent as they use to be. Don't get me wrong though. When I want deep dish pizza, I always come here. I think they are way too busy and they have been rushing lately. Otherwise, I love this place. It is extremely crowded almost everynight so you'll have to wait for a seat!
Pizza is too sour – I had the Zachary's special stuffed pizza (sausage, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper)...too little topping for a combo pizza, IMO. The pizza top layer was covered with crushed tomtatoes and sauce and just too much sauce that it made the pizza too sour to eat. Also, they skimp on the other toppings like sausage, I swear I found only one piece of sausage per slice. They also skimped on the cheese, not enough cheese for a Chicago-style pizza. The best pizza I've ever had. – My family went back up north for New Year's and my boss made me swear to eat here before coming back. We were not dissapointed! Other than the bread (which is more akin to dough as it's so soft!) we were surprised to see the toppings underneath the cheese, and the chunks of tomatoes on top. AWESOME PIZZA and Service was unbeatable – Went here in August 2006 had a reasonable wait and the PIZZA was absolutely terrific. Get here early if possible to avoid a long wait. I live in Southern California and wished there was Zachary's in So Cal so I could coompare side by side with Abbott's Pizza
