Note to Mr. Foles – This location is struggling and the word on the street is decidedly negative. On my last visit, I hate to say, your staff was rude and unprofessional. It appears that you have in your employ immature children as employees. The food-this is a Taco Bell facsimile. Low end menu, mediocre quality and cold food. When you serve your meals on plates from the school cafeteria it leaves patrons with the impression of a paper plate and plastic fork experience. I spoke with others waiting to be seated and no one cou... read more

Great Salads – Have been here several times and have always had something different and have never been disappointed. Recently went with a large group, which included 2 infants. Our table could not accomidate the high chairs, so the manager and waitress made arrangments to move our whole group in just a few minutes. They couldnt have been nicer about the situation.

Contemporary Southwest combines creative entrees with lounge atmosphere. – In Short Z'Tejas delivers spicy food in a spicy setting. A recent renovation left Z' Tejas looking more elegant and less rustic than it used to, but the place still emits a laid-back attitude. The menu offers unique salads and sandwiches, and entrees are given a Southwestern twist. Try the catfish beignets, zippy VooDoo Tuna and a wicked Ancho Chile Fudge Pie.

Eclectic Tex-Mex and extraordinary taste keep the locals coming to this popular Sixth Street staple. – In Short The menu is spicy Southwestern, but you'll find creatively prepared pasta dishes and traditional salads alongside unique items like the Navajo taco: A crisp, flat tortilla piled high with fried spinach, black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, zucchini and sour cream. The fish tacos arrive as soft tortilla rolls artfully spread out on the plate. For a warm treat, check out the thick, creamy poblano corn soup with an i... read more

A good time! – Z'Tejas is lots of fun! Even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken. The menu isn't extensive and there aren't any vegetarian options but selections can be made without meat. I had the Jrk Chicken Salad (sans chicken) and it was FABULOUS! The restaurant is rather spacious so things tend to get loud; it has a bit of a barn feel to it with lots of different rooms. There's also outside dining options and a bar.

Creative Southwestern cooking, plus specialty margaritas and cocktails. – In Short The crowd consists of everyone from local media personalities and sports gods to business bigwigs and ladies doing lunch. The space emits a casual feeling which is echoed by a menu that meanders through the Southwest. The spicy food reflects the equally spicy setting. Try the miso salmon, zippy voodoo tuna and a wicked ancho chile fudge pie.

A sure hit! – I don't live in Austin so I was really happy that the one meal I had there about 5 years lived up to my expectations 5 years later! I had the stuffed pork medallions both times and I would go as far as saying that this is the meal I would want if it were my last. My wife had the snapper which was also superb. Waiting sucks but at least the ambience of the place makes up for it. Parking there also sucks. Valet is really the only option. Who cares!

What Happened? – Having Sunday Brunch at ZTejas is like a tradition. We hadn't been by in a few months because we had been trying out other places. We were eager customers when we arrived at 11pm. What happened to this place? The usual prompt, attentive and extremely efficient service was replaced with a lethargic and uncaring attitude, and not from one employee, but from the few we had to interact with. The pert, peppy hostess was quick to dump us off at a table, then nearly five minutes later our server came by and was tot... read more
