A sure hit! – I don't live in Austin so I was really happy that the one meal I had there about 5 years lived up to my expectations 5 years later! I had the stuffed pork medallions both times and I would go as far as saying that this is the meal I would want if it were my last. My wife had the snapper which was also superb. Waiting sucks but at least the ambience of the place makes up for it. Parking there also sucks. Valet is really the only option. Who cares!

What Happened? – Having Sunday Brunch at ZTejas is like a tradition. We hadn't been by in a few months because we had been trying out other places. We were eager customers when we arrived at 11pm. YUM!!! – My sis & I had brunch this past Sunday (11/13) & LOVED this place!!! We had the Tomatillo soup that was soooooo good! We also had the Chile Poblano (can't remember the exact name as it appears on the menu)---it was the best stuffed poblano that I've EVER had! I live in Houston & would drive to Austin just to revisit Z Tejas!!! The service was great! I would highly recommend visiting this place! There's a cool antique shop next door to visit while waiting for your table!

Wow, those mushroom enchiladas are fantastic! – We were trying to go somewhere else, but it ended up being closed and wow were we surprised just how much i loved my food. The enchiladas were perfect. Any vegetarians would love this dish. I would highly reccomend this resturanct to anyone, and definatly plan on going back.

Margarita Madness! – Come here for the Southwestern-style Mexican--the wild mushroom enchiladas are the best--but plan on eating lots of carbs to help neutralize the intensely potent margaritas so you don't tumble down the wooden deck on your way out. They are delicious and amazingly easy to drink back-to-back! Both the main bar and the annexed bar are definitely buzzing, and it gets really crowded on weekend nights. Their reservation style's a little mystical, but they seem to take them for groups.

Great food that exceeds expectations – This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. It exceeded my expectations in many ways. The food is very artfully prepared. It is unbelievably inexpensive for what you get. I remember all main courses to be around $8-$14. The wait staff was very professional, but then again we weren't arrogant with them either. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! – I don't think I've EVER had a worse dining experience. The service is AWFUL, and when I complained to the manager he actually ROLLED HIS EYES at me and said, "Yeah, I'll look into it". The best service we had all night was from the valet guys who parked our car. TOTALLY not worth it-unless you enjoy being treated horribly.

Decent food, poor service – Twice in the last three months, I've experienced their arrogant lack of service. From a busy Friday eve happy hour to a lazy, post-lunch-rush meal, Z Tejas is riding their rep from a few years ago. They are rudely uncaring, from the lack of greeting or even prompt service, to an automated thrusting of the bill, with no warmth or even basic courtesy. Disappointing – My last few visits to Z Tejas on 6th Street have been very disappointing, everything from the service to the food. I've had one good waiter there in the past 6 months. On my last visit the food tasted like it had been sitting out and then mircrowaved and had no flavor. The waitress could have cared less when I complained. Our drinks were not re-filled for our entire visit.
