reports of "passive" discriminatory behavior and remarks over the years and then today told a good employee whose been that for awhile that she will not be allowed to work there if her hair is "too curly", a natural afro is "unprofessional" to them
Racism naturally flourishes here, where a young Black woman was told her natural hair was “unprofessional” and unacceptable. This place is not safe for BIPOC.
Natural food but not natural hair? Smh.
You're a natural market, but don't allow natural hair?
Is there a zero stars button?? Your employee deserved better. Her hair was in it’s natural state. But that’s “unprofessional” right?? Truly UNACCEPTABLE!
You need to do better by your POC employees. Her natural hair does not effect the way she performs her job. Also this isn't the first time you have been called out about your discrimination against POC. I will not ever shop here and will be informing my friends and family to do the same. Shameful.
Disappointing is an understatement. Whitewashed hairstyles aren’t more appropriate or professional than natural hair. This perpetuates the idea that black culture is inferior. Do better.
I'm all for supporting local/small business. I will NOT support racial intolerance and discriminatory behavior in influential community entities. As a white Macon resident, your voice is not my own. Please try to learn, grow and be better. For the community
You can be hit with discrimination in the workplace for such a vile comment then following up with sending her home. It's already too late, welcome to the internet where you can't hide your racism. Poor selection of staff, get better employees.
