They greet me by name when I come in. The staff suggest ways to improve my balance, my strength and my ability to move. They are wonderful. I attend the Rock Steady Boxing program for folks with Parkinson's disease. It has been so helpful in fighting this insidious disease. Briell as program co-ordinator, along with Taylor, Vic, Jake, Jamal and Kevin are people who understand and care. They are knowledgeable and informed about Parkinson's and run a pretty tight ship. We have enjoyed going to the YMCA almost weekly (sometimes two or three times a week) since joining last May, coming up on a year! I love having the different options of work out classes and my young boys enjoy the child watch while I work out! We also have taken advantage of the pool, with swim lesson evenings to be a family outing to swim together before and after the lessons - while my husband works out in the fitness area! There's something for the whole family!
It’s extremely expensive for one person. Pushing past $60-70 a month for any gym membership is absolutely crazy. But really it’s the fact that the gym is almost never open for basketball players who just wanna get exercise. It’s all I do to stay fit and I’ve done it for almost 20 years straight but this YMCA has helped break my frequent basketball exercise routine.
