customer review i've been a customer since the yarn garden opened,the staff that works there now are more helpful and friendly than the first ones. I used to go to the $5. help in the afternoon and the girl that helped me was very good. My job doesn,t let me get thereanymore. But its the best shop in town with the most beautiful yarns anywhere. Great store if you are a regular, otherwise...pretty bad – I've been in several times looking for specific yarn/colours and getting someone to help me was very very difficult. Either the staff is behind the counter talking to each other and ignoring customers (even if asked for help) or they are joined at he hip with customers who are obvious regulars. So..if yuo know what you want & can find it on your own it's an OK store. But if you need help - forget it!
Yarn Garden – I am a novice knitter, and I love to go in an browse. I usually buy some yarn, and sometimes I just have a question or two about something I am working on. I find it's best to ask the younger staffers than the older ones. Overall the best selection of yarn I have ever seen.
Great Yarn, Hard to Get Help – This is a great shop to wander around in. I've been in a couple times. I think that there are lots of people working at any given time, but no one has ever asked me if I need help finding anything or even acknowledged me. I've bought less there because of it. The other customers are generally very nice and much more helpful than the staff.
Yarn Garden is my favorite yarn store in Portland, a city full of crafty people. They have a giant selection, lots of stuff you can't find anywhere else. I've never walked into the store without being greeted by smiling, helpful staff! I'd live there if they let me.
Most inspiring inventory lovingly arranged by yarn company, yarn weight, yarn fiber. More than enough friendly help. Yarn Garden was dubbed "The Mothership" of yarn stores by a happy customer. It title fits!
