LOVE IT!! 2 years ago I took up crochet. I took to it really fast and really enjoyed it! I recently took a day and went to shops devoted to yarn. there were only a few locally and i think I hit them all (Well all the local ones i know of) I really enjoyed this place. I found some really funky yarn that I used to make the coolest scarf out of! The people here are great and so is the selection! YOu must chek it out if youare into anything involving yarn!
customer review i've been a customer since the yarn garden opened, the staff that works there now are more helpful and friendly than the first ones. I used to go to the $5. help in the afternoon and the girl that helped me was very good. My job doesn,t let me get thereanymore. But its the best shop in town with the most beautiful yarns anywhere. I've gotten alot of good help over the years and enjoyed visiting when I get a chance. One thing I do really miss is getting the class schedule in the mail. Going on the website tosee... read more
I know why it is nicknamed the mothership of yarn stores! This is my favorite yarn store in PDX. I can and do spend hours at a time wandering through the rooms touching everything. The staff is interested in what I'm knitting and can remember the project I was working on the last time I was in. They always come up with great suggestions when I want to substitute a yarn and disappear in the back returning with arm loads of yarn. One of the reviewers wrote they were expensive. I can tell you, having visited all the LYS I consi... read more
What can I say that hasn't been said? This is a top-notch shop, with an amazing selection (sometimes they get low on Addi needles, though). I couldn't find some of the yarn I'm accustomed to using, but the staff is friendly and knowledgable and can help you find substitutes. The coffee shop is a great idea and really adds to the place. My favorite shop in Portland!
Best Selection of Yarn I've Ever Seen... The Yarn Garden has an amazing inventory of yarn--I've never seen anything quite like it! Unfortunately, it can be quite expensive. Still, I'd definitely shop there for specialty yarns. Store staff were polite, although not particularly friendly. They seem to offer a good selection of classes, although I haven't been able to take one yet due to scheduling conflicts.
Take a class here-fun!! This shop offers a large variety of lucious yarns and great classes. The staff is very helpful and willing to help get you started in knitting.A large room of patterns and magazines.Good for ideas. Some yarns are hard to find, but you can get them here! Reasonable class prices and good variety of subjects taught.
A good idea Too bad everything there is way to expensive. I know the area is a hot spot but it's just string! It wouldn't be so bad if they had a bargain bin or scrap collectors for us knitters who are trying to save a little money making presents. PROS: nice colorful yarns CONS: makes you want to shop at wal-mart :(
