No spikes while pruning, damages bark spreads disease. Ugh, I have no patience for this poor arboriculture. If the climber got into the leader coming down and put the spikes on, thats perfectly exceptable. As long as those spikes never touched the part of the tree that was staying. Now the tree has many unnecessary wounds that it must over grow. Some trees he will kill doing this. I just get mad over it. He doesn't give you the runaround and tells you where you can save money, and what needs to get done, or doesn't need to be done. Unlike other companies that try to tell you you need to do this and it's really expensive, but you need to get it done or you'll lose this or that- just bull***t! Call Matt, he's the best!
