High Quality Supplies If you are looking for a place to buy a bit more high quality yarns (including wools, cottons, blends, cashmeres, etc.) look no further than woolwinders. They carry some of the best names in knitting and crocheting supplies. All the staff there knit or crochet. There is a large table and a sofa where people come to knit and share ideas and talents. They have an extensive library of books and patterns. The prices are high, but the materials are of high quality and they are very helpful.
woolwinders The owner of this shop is why customers go elsewhere-There was a smile when i made purchases BUT when i rec'd damaged yarn and needed support (with a substitution) i was told to sub sock yarn (mountain colors merino tape) in place of Colinette Tagliatelle!! After i spoke with the owner she responded as if i was trying to take advantage of HER !!I spent 1000.00 in a 6 month period of time , in this shop, and was treated with a smile as i made purchases. I suppose she was embarrassed over her lack of knowledge but ... read more
Great knitting store Woolwinders is located in King Farm in Rockville, MD. Once you go here for supplies or instruction, it is hard to go elsewhere, despite the pricey materials. They are your stop for ultra fine and soft wools, cashmeres, and other high end yarns. The staff here really know their stuff and are extremely helpful. No matter your skill level, you will find what you need and more here.
Would not recommend It is sad we don't have more yarn stores in the Rockville area. I can not recommend Woolwinders although the yarns are beautiful the owner is very rude and just interested in getting your money forget about customer service. Why would she run a store with such insensitivity towards people?
yarn store worth the trip from DC Since there aren't a lot of yarn stores in DC, Woolwinders is definitely worth the trip. It is accessible by metro (Red Line) if you don't mind a 15-20 min. walk once you get off the train. They have a great selection, lots of classic brands, and the clerks are very happy to help you make a choice. The store also hosts authors and offers classes--a great knitting resource!
Woolwinders is my favorite place for gorgeous yarns! After visiting every store in the DC area, I don't know why anyone would ever go anywhere else! I've been a customer at the shop for many years, and even now that I live on the opposite coast, it's still my favorite place to shop. Not only is the atmosphere lovely and inviting, but contrary to the several negative posts on here, the owner is one of the nicest and most sincere people in the world. Jacqui treats her customers with nothing but respect and expects the same in ... read more
