We knew that campus would be sleepy during the summer but the Union Hotel was pretty much closed during a July stay. The restaurants that were open at all and even the bowling alley / pool tables were closing at very early hours. It was a healthy walk to any shops or restaurants from here but would be great if you were in town for a football game. Room was very clean and had modern Madison decor. Top tier customer service! The people were amazing, the rooms were beautiful, comfortable, well appointed. Slept like a rock with a tiny exception. I don’t know if I was too close to the elevator or if it was due to the light/fan in the bathroom (gorgeous shower btw) but there was a high pitched squeal every so often that woke me up. I sleep through most alarms so this was surprising! The refrigerator motor was also exceptionally loud, but I thought of it as white noise and it helped me sleep.
