I drive a group of Native American kids from many nations to Windemere most every year. Great break for the kids, and a chance for them to get hope, encouragement, and eye opening to hear that Jesus is not a white man .
It's a beautiful area - so much potential. Unfortunately the housing is old and dilapidated, but the staff is very nice and helpful. In my opinion they should sell the land where the old dorms are and put that money towards renovating the current apartments and lodges so it looks updated and clean. Under good management, Windemere could prosper.
Want to know where NOT to stay? This place. It's not well kept at all. The facilities are filthy and there are no staff on site. If you do ask for assistance, the office is very inconvenienced. Another group played loud bass from there car until 2am. The cabin was missing some of the floor and the ceiling leaked. The stocked kitchen they advertise consists of empty cabinet space and bugs. I realize it's an event location and we are outside a lot, but a mattress that doesn't smell like urine would also be great.
