The Winchester Opera House was built in 1873 by J.D. Simpson, the first Mayor of Winchester. The Opera House was the mayor's gift to the city to be utilized as a cultural center for the performing arts. It hosted Off Broadway Productions, Classical Concerts and Community galas. The majestic building fell to industrialization and became broken from years of neglect.
