Good for the after-movie light meal – My fiance and I ordered the chocolate fondue to share. Her recommended wine turned out to be an excellent choice, and the coffee I ordered (I forget the name, but it has the orange and chocolate flavor added) was FANTASTIC. The fondue filled the belly well, and we were able to enjoy the evening outside. Service was attentative, friendly and helpful. A pricier establishment, but since I have not had any other dishes yet, I can't give a more specific critique of the menu.
Friendly neighborhood hangout makes Winberies a winner This restaurant/bar is a great neighborhood hangout. The waitstaff, especially Mary Welsh, is especially attentative and knowledgeable about the food, wine and daily specials. Whether you want a light meal, like a salad or soup or a full meal like pasta or chicken, the food is prepared to order and is always the right temperature! The prices are not outrageous either. The restaurant and bar are non-smoking and a great bistro atmosphere makes you feel right at home.
Horrid Service – The food is bland and salty. Wish such a compliment could be given the staff. I thought it was some kind of play but it wasn't. THEY ARE RUDE, and downright abbusive. The manager doesn't even deserve to clean tables. The hostess is a primidana. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!!
Winberie seafood outstanding – Each of us tried a salmon dish: salmon in parchment with seasonal vegetables and red potatoes as well as salmon on grilled plank. Both were delicious and tender. The cost was remarkably lower than expected for such high quality food. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and is kid friendly too.
Cool corner cafe offers great views of passersby and delicious down-home cooking. – The Scene Hip Oak Park couples and singles spark conversation in one of Winberie's two wood-trimmed dining rooms. Gold sponge-painted and exposed brick walls add warmth, while meandering classical music, contemporary ad prints and potted palms lend a touch of class.
