Is Pathology Friday a thing? Mid 30s patient presents with large exophytic neoplasm/growth on right cheek. She reports she bit into her cheek and it never healed, eventually developing into this mass. She also keeps biting into it since itโs so large and was never able to heal. Whatโs your differential? ๐ช the leukoplakic margins of the mass and central erythematous area suggest something concerning. #wackytoothwednesday is really a thing! Female Caucasian patient presents with a hopeless and fractured tooth. She has a benign over production of cementum around her teeth called hypercementosis. Cementum is part of the โcementโ that helps hold the teeth in the jaw bone. This can be seen in any racial group, can be caused by occlusal/biting trauma, acromegaly, gigantism, arthritis, and Pagetโs disease, among others. Pathology Wednesday! Middle aged black male presents for symptomatic tooth #32. Look ๐ at the pano with a common finding in this ethnic group, especially in black females. Multiple periapical radiolucencies in the mandible. All asymptomatic and vital teeth. No biopsies necessary as this patient has cemento-osseous dysplasia based on presentation and race, only radiographic monitoring.
