There should be an option for five plus stars because that’s what they deserve. Mom arrived just over a year ago after a life changing incident. We didn’t have much time to look around and Willoughby was just down the road from our house and they had an opening. We put mom in there thinking we can always move her if needed. Willoughby Manor is a beautiful and welcoming residence. I was able to arrange for a family member to be placed there in a respite bed. The care, support, activities and companionship that was available were very beneficial and allowed time for recovery. After 3 weeks, a Long Term Care Home bed became available, so I arranged for my family member to leave. The staff were all sad to say goodbye. Thank you, Willoughby Manor staff for all the support and advice you provided.
As a family member of a cherished aging loved one , you find yourself in the position because of their health and well-being to have to take the next step for their protection by moving them from independent living to a retirement home. This decision does not come easy and is extremely difficult. I know that for my Mom I wanted a family orientated environment that was clean, intimate and above all had responsible, trustworthy, effective, dedicated and caring Staff.
