We are currently on Day 3 of waiting for a surgical referral from the PCP. I am a physician and my mom the treated patient is a former employee of UTSW. Even during business hours, calls go to an answering service we can't reach a physical person in the clinic. Dr. Desai has been a great PCP but this just cant suffice for appropriate or timely care with a cancer diagnosis. Appointments, referrals, call backs all take. >2-3 days best case scenario.
If I could give zero stars, I would. While there are some good providers affiliated with this hospital, the clinic policy is extremely frustrating. They do not allow experienced providers with advanced degrees to see new patients — instead, you are automatically scheduled with a resident. I am not against residents, but I do not want to be treated only by a trainee. I am paying a lot for my insurance and my care, and this policy feels unfair. I am very disappointed with how new patients are handled here

I am terribly disappointed with how I’ve been treated by this facility. I got a referral to be seen by a provider here, I called to schedule an appointment and was told I couldn’t be scheduled because my doctor didn’t provide a diagnosis. I provided all the necessary information for them to request my medical records.
