Had root planing/scaling done and was happy with procedure and result. However, I went to another perio for a second opinion for some other work he wanted to do and opted to change doctors.
Expensive and unnecessary surgery – Was referred by my dentist, who said one tooth was resisting resolution for my pocket depth (she said it had a pocket depth of 7mm). Dr Wiesen tested my pockets and found, just 2 weeks after my dentist's exam, that I had several 6s and 7s, and due to my "moderately aggressive periodontitis" I was a candidate for immediate osseous (gum) surgery, with bone grafts. I had a gingival graft done by Dr. Wiessen. It's not an easy procedure to go through and involves cutting the roof of your mouth to donate tissue to an area of recession. His manner is great. He put me at ease and explained things well and created reasonable expectations. However,he could do better with his office staff. It feels as if the receptionist is some one I can work with but have to work around. More than once she has no relayed important messages to the doctor, and has brushed off some important questions.
Dr. Mark Wiesen is an incredible periodontist. I had a very negative experience with another dentist and Mark Wiesen overcame any aprehension on my part, proving to be the consummate professional and at the same time;a kind, caring person. My results were spectacular. Even though crown leghtening is not necessarily a pleasant experience, Dr. Mark Wiesen made me feel at ease during the entire procedure. I went to multiple periodontists prior to selecting Dr. Wiesen's office for my treatment. It was the best decision that I've ever made and both me and my general dentist are extremely pleased with the outcome of my surgery. In addition, his staff was extraordinary!!!
