Stay away from the "Specials" – I went with the friend and ordered the special fried chicken. The first piece I opened up came out ice cold in the middle and raw. Nothing says summer like raw chicken. I had the waitress take it back, and what I got back were the same three pieces which took eight more minutes in the fryer. All the pieces were dry and terrible. The mashed potatoes, which had not been removed from the plate or kept warm in anyway, were of course cold. What was "special" about any of this? The only reason I'm g... read more

Best breakfast / brunch in the the EV! – Having the Westville open an East Village location was the best thing that happen to the neighborhood. We have been tracking over to the West Village location for years now and were ecstatic when they opened. I crave their egg scramble every week and love all of their veggie side dishes, deserts and salads. Enjoy!

So rude. If you want good food AND good service, skip Westville East and go to Westville the original on West 10th Street.

delicious food, crappy attitudes – 5:10pm trying to order delivery..... Me: "Hello, can you please tell me your specials for the night?" Phone Lady: "No." Me: "Um..... why not?" PL: : "Nobody told me them yet." Me: "Do you have any idea when you might know them?" PL: "I don't know. Call back later." *click* Me: (to dead phone line) "Wow, thanks, You've been really helpful. I'll be sure to call back at the very specific time of 'later'. Or I'll just call a restaurant that's not quite as unhelpful and rude."

Horrible Customer Service – Since it opened, this has been one of my favorite restaurants in the east village. The food is perfect for takeout and the staff is always nice and pleasant on the phone. My boyfriend and I order in from here at least once -- sometimes twice a week and have been very understanding in the past when things such as the following have happened: -waiting 2.5 HOURS for our food to be delivered -the delivery guy NEVER having a pen -our entres coming with chocolate cake instead of chocolate shakes. But af... read more

New Fav In The East Village – I have been twice in the last 4 weeks and I love this place. The lines are sometimes tough but if you go for dinner at like 9:30 its often not too bad. Everything I have had here is awsome. Esp the burger which is the best in the east village and probably in my top 3 for the city (rare and burger joint are the other two) For now its also BYOB which is awsome....its not listed as romantic or a date spot but I think it works well. Plus being able to eat for 2 under 40 bucks when you can bring your... read more

Nice staff, average food – Very friendly atmosphere and staff, but the food is average. The veggie plate is a good idea, but it's pretty tasteless. Gets too crowded.

Great burgers – I came here with a friend a few weeks ago and on a Thursday night we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for our table. The place is small, and at times you can definitely feel cramped and closed-in. They didn't have a liquor license, but they can direct you to stores from which you can buy your own. Both my friend and I got the hamburgers, and they were delicious! Not the best I've had, but definitely up there. They were juicy, cooked perfectly (medium rare). I also tried one of their milkshakes, which ... read more

one of the best brunches in nyc – i met some friends at westville east for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. i had the egg scramblers (you can build your own or get one of the specials) with amazing potatoes and probably the best toast and jam i've found in ny. my roommate had the french toast which was very tasty too. the portions are huge and the prices are not. they don't take reservations and some people will wait up to 45 minutes for a table, but it is definitly worth it. i would trek down here from the uws any day o... read more
