I've been on Doxycyline for a year now to prevent re-infection of a knee replacement, and will be on a 200mg. a day regimen for the rest of my life. I have this year developed a pre-cancerous polyp in my colon and after doing some research, found that long term antibiotic treatment causes disruptions in the gut biome that result in a 68% greater risk of polyps for those in my age group.
