I had a family member stay with me, and the contract specifically says you are allowed to add someone to the lease, you just need to get a screening. Mind you this was during COVID, and I was helping someone in need. They refused to consider doing a screening. I have rented from Western Mills for about 1.5 years in one of their newly remodeled units and really enjoy it! Pros: decent pricing, great downtown location (everything is walkable!), professional and efficient staff/ maintenance, good neighbors, secure building. There is even a rooftop patio with plants and seating for tenant use! Cons: There is a condensation issue in most of the units that requires some upkeep on the part of the resident. I rented from Western Mills, 2174 NW Davis. The apartment was refinished and had a clean look. The bathroom had no ventilation system so mold would grow throughout the apartment. I had to wipe the ceilings down after every shower and open a window(not in the bathroom) I had to get a doctors note to get a spare key. Even after I was locked out because the key card would malfunction. They stole $800 from me after saying I needed to pay off a portion of my lease break fee, and then continued to also take that money from my security deposit. Be cautious, don’t rent from sketchy people like western mills llc.
