I was extremely disappointed in my experience with West Coast OBGYN - Dr. Meshkat was unprofessional and dismissive. For some background: I recently moved to San Diego in the spring and started having issues with recurrent BV and pelvic pain in June. I called to get an emergency prescription for Ella, only available by prescription (confirmed through Google search and with my Pharmacy). They said the doctor would not prescribe it cause it’s available over-the-counter and that my pharmacy was incorrect. I was not asking for Plan B. I was asking for Ella and that is in fact a prescription only medication. Ella is better suited for my needs so now I have to go with the less effective option.

The front desk girls gossip about patients and even talked about my own form in front of me. I think they’re so numb to patient care they think no one can see or hear them. I was put off by that and should have went home right then and there. The actual obgyn was nice but gave me so much information while I was basically incoherent. The Pap test was tough on me and her beside manner was polite but cold. I walked away stressed, with high medical bills and felt completely unheard. Nothing felt resolved. I don’t understand why so many negative reviews besides only unhappy people leave reviews. My wife and I love this place and the plethora of knowledgeable providers to give us different insights into our pregnancy. Always easy to schedule and when we arrive, 10-15 min late on average, we are seen within 2 minutes and doctor sees us anywhere from 5-10 min after being put in a room. I had a very disappointing experience with this practice. Throughout my interactions, I felt there was a lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability. Instead of addressing concerns in a transparent and respectful manner, I was left feeling dismissed and unsupported. Patients deserve to be treated with honesty, respect, and compassion, especially when dealing with important healthcare matters. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those values.
