Cool place, but disappointing food/service – The nurse and I stopped by the Southpark Meadows Waterloo location shortly after noon today. It took about four minutes before anyone noticed we were standing there, waqiting to be seated, but the nurse met some kids she knew from working as a school nurse, so time went by quickly. Good food...shame about the waitstaff. – I went to the Southpark Meadows location during happy hour for drinks and dinner. I love the veggie sandwich. The person I was with and I ordered a couple of the coctails that are discounted for happy hour. Both were BAD, BAD, BAD. But we didn't them send back. Just chalked it up to lesson learned and ordered beer the next round. Got the bill and noticed we were charged twice the amount advertised in the menu for one of the bad drinks. bad chili – I have enjoyed many a breakfast at the Waterloo Ice on Burnet Rd as it is near my office. The other day I noticed on the Waterloo sign "try our chili". What a mistake! Has the manager tried it lately. He or she needs to. I would be happy to drop off a recipe cause your chili is terrible.
Tuesday Night Band – If you find yourself out on a Tuesday evening, go to Waterloo on 38th St. and listen to the Will Dunlap band. It makes for a fun night out for food and entertainment all under one roof. The salad with apples and walnuts is delicious. Sit back with a Black & Tan brewski and enjoy the show. The gig starts at around seven o'clock.
when you want something and a beer – original burgers- bluecheese and peppercorn etc. pretty good, not fussy, try it. the veggie burgers are pretty exceptional as are the salads.
Old-fashioned hamburgers, laid-back Austin setting. – In Short This no-frills hamburger joint opened on Congress in 1976 and now has several locations. Creaky hardwood floors and big wooden chairs make up a causal environment where buddies relax with suds and grub. Old photographs and signs decorate the walls, reminding you of the days of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Willie Nelson. Everything is made to order. Aside from the famous burgers and fries, regulars crave the Texas Philly sandwich and queso chopped steak.
eh, mediocre – I was trying to show my houston friends some local austin flavor so we went here when Z tejas was too busy... had a combo plate -- baked potato, salad, mexican corn soup. the potato was ok (how do you mess up a potato anyway?) but the salad was watery, the ranch mayonnaisey, and the corn chowder tepid and bland. I will not go here again and will not recommend it at all. the best of the best! – all i can say is that this is the best record store ever! great staff, great selection and awesome events! don't believe the negative review below! you can't please everyone! highly recommended! totally indie and for the TRUE music lover!!!
Make you feel little – The staff I have dealt with in the shop are a bit rude when it comes to music. Snot-nosed, rather, know-it-alls, if you will. If you likr big name music, mean anything that is produced by a big label or well known band, the place is not for you. Goin in there is a bit like Romper Room.
