My doctor mistakenly placed my prescription (T) that I normally get filled at the Tricare clinic to this pharmacy. I normally get T from Tricare because the copay is $50 at Walgreens. I do gat my prescription (L) filled at Walgreens because the copay is less than $2. I got an automated phone call saying my prescription was ready for pickup. I assumed it was L. I go through the drive through assuming I am picking up L. The pharmacist at the window never confirmed to me the medication I was picking up. She tells me the total is “one fifty-nine”. Since L normally cost less than $2, I assumed she meant $1.59. I admit I didn’t check the receipt or the bag because I already had my pill case set for the week. A 5 days pass and I am checking my bank account and see a charge for $159. I find the bag on my desk and tear it open. There are 3 bottles of T. I rush to the Walgreen to return this medicine. My budget can’t afford this payment. They tell me their policy is the can’t accept returned medications. The T is packaged in manufacture bottles with the foil seal still on them. I admit my mistakes in this situation but to have a policy of not accepting returned medications unless their was a mistake made on their side. What about the mistake that the pharmacist never confirmed the medication that I was picking up before handing over the medication? What about the pharmacist saying “one fifty-nine” instead of clearing stating “one hundred fixity-nine”? Especially when the window has no display to see the price visually before agreeing to payment!
